The Seminary family was saddened to learn of the death of Andrew Davies on Monday morning 17th August.
Andrew Davies was a graduate of King’s College London where he read history before going on to study theology at Hertford College, Oxford. For pastoral training he attended the Presbyterian Church of Wales’ Aberystwyth Theological College. He ministered first in the South Island of New Zealand then Kenton Evangelical Church, North London before moving to Chessington Evangelical Church (now called King’s Church).
He was part of the original faculty of London Theological Seminary 1977-1989. In 1988, while ministering in South Wales, he felt the need for some assistance in teaching Church History and Robert Oliver was invited to share this work from the middle of the Spring Term of 1989. Andrew Davies was however unwell at the beginning of that term and so after beginning in January 1989, Robert was soon asked to take responsibility for the whole Church History course.
Andrew moved to ministry in Australia, returning in 1999 to become pastor of Kensit Church. He rejoined the faculty as lecturer in homiletics until his retirement in 2006. He was Acting Principal during the early part of 2005 when the Principal was given a sabbatical.
He is fondly remembered by his Seminary students, and by members of Kensit Evangelical Church. We pray for his widow Pam, and their children Mark, Steve, Sharon, and John-Paul, and grandchildren who grieve his loss. We give thanks for resurrection hope.
