My name is Klaas-Jan. In August 2018, I, my wife Willemien and our three young children moved from the Netherlands to the UK to study full time at London Seminary.
I grew up going to church and learning about the Bible. However, only during my time at university did the Lord open my eyes to really understand the gospel. In the same period, I met Willemien and we married in November 2013.
In the past two years, my desire to pursue seminary education grew and this led us to London Seminary. The warm fellowship with other students and their families has made it very easy to settle in!
I enjoy the course immensely, although studying for preaching and the pastorate is quite different from working for an engineering firm. The lectures have been very stimulating, edifying and challenging. I find the practical focus and pastoral experience of the lecturers to be a perfect match with the academic level of the courses. It is never just information, but always relevant for my life and future ministry.
It is so good to start each day with morning worship: preaching, prayer and praise. Last week, such a worship service gave me my very first preaching experience. It was exciting and humbling, but also a great blessing and privilege to be preaching God’s word!
After completing the seminary course, we hope to return to The Netherlands to minister there, although it is not clear yet how and where that will be. And who knows if the Lord has other plans for us?
